You are one of 4173 IBCLCs in the region! We are pleased to inform you by e-newsletter about issues of interest for you as an IBCLC.
Welcome to 620 new IBCLCs from 27 countries in our international network of colleagues who passed the July 2008 IBLCE Exam in Europe and the Middle East.
In our region the exam had been offered in British English, American English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Hungarian and Slovenian. Pass rates again
had been very successful both for initial candidates and for IBCLCs
recertifying by exam. Read more in Prof. Leon Gross detailed report on the

Congratulations to each of you for your courage to test your knowledge and skills in breastfeeding counselling at an international level! As you may know the IBCLC qualification is regarded a "Model of Best Practice" in the
EU-Blueprint for the Promotion, Protection and Support of Breastfeeding in
Europe.
Special applaus to our IBCLC colleagues with the highest scores on the IBLCE

section "IBCLC
Registry" by indicating the family name or the IBCLC ID
number.
Last year the IBLCE Board has revised eligibility requirements for initial exam
candiates.
In Europe and the Middle East these new requirements will become effective in
2010.
In addition admission proceedures will require candidates to have their continuing education
complete by the time of submitting their application. There will be a phasing in period from 2009
to 2011.
Best wishes,
Ilse Bichler
